Engage Sundays
Exalt. Edify. Equip. Engage.
Let’s intentionally share the Good News about Jesus in our community.
Helpful Reminders:
First things first:
Pray that God would lead you into fruitful, engaging ministry.
Consider the existing patterns of your life – and leverage them for the ministry.
Do ministry together – partner together with brothers and sisters from the church.
Be intentional that this is time to purposefully do ministry – not just hang out.
Principles for Success:
Taken from the Epilogue of Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out: Evangelism the Way You Were Born To Do It by Alvin L. Reid (2017)
Principle 1: God created you for His glory, to advance His Gospel with the gifts, talents, and opportunities He gave to you.
Principle 2: In order to share Jesus confidently and consistently with others, first share him confidently and consistently with yourself. [In other words: preach the Gospel to yourself.]
Principle 3: Shifting from giving an evangelistic presentation to having an evangelistic conversation takes pressure off the witness and relates the Gospel more clearly to an unbeliever.
Principle 4: God has sovereignly placed you in this world at this time with the abilities and gifts you have to bring glory to him and show the joy of the Gospel to others.
Principle 5: Effective evangelistic conversations connect the unchanging Gospel with the specific issues [and challenges] people face.
Principle 6: Expect people to be open to the Gospel, and learn to share Jesus where they live.
Principle 7: Talk to the person in front of you about the Jesus inside of you; let them see and hear the change that Jesus makes in you.
Principle 8: Developing a lifestyle of sharing Jesus consistently flows out of a plan to share Jesus regularly.
Suggested Ideas:
Plan a visit with a family who recently attended Lilburn First Baptist Church.
Bake cookies and take them to a neighbor with whom you would like to share the Gospel.
Plan to host a dinner at your home for friends and neighbors with whom you would like to be a Christian witness.
Visit and minister to someone who is in the hospital.
Have dinner at a local restaurant with the express purpose of engaging your server with the Gospel. You may ask them how you can pray for them as you prepare to pray over your meal. Leave a Gospel tract or a ‘You Belong Here’ card. Invite them to come and sit with you at church. Leave a nice tip! :)
Visit a local park and intentionally engage with other adults. If you have children… you already have a natural point of connection with other parents.
Plan a house party with your Sunday school class or small group and invite your neighbors. You can do this multiple times in multiple neighborhoods.
Invite someone over for coffee, or take someone out for coffee.
Visit and minister to one of the senior adults who are no longer able to attend church services.
Invite someone to enjoy your hobbies with you and use it as an opportunity for the Gospel.
Have questions about what this should
look like?
-
Because these days are intentional, organic ways for you to connect with your community, there isn’t a specific time or specific meeting place. Want to share with your waiter during lunch? That’s great! Want to have neighbors over for dinner? That’s great, too!
-
Nope! This is just time set aside in our schedules to be intentional about sharing the gospel with those around us. No program, no agenda—just use this day to make Christ known!

We have a list of homebound members and those in the hospital, as well as a list of recent visitors. Contact the Church Office for these lists: office@firstbaptist.net or 770-921-1220
